Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Justin Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Greg Hines!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hines misses with a looping right.

Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hines circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hines looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Greg Hines seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hines throws out a loose jab but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hines throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Diaz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hines looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Hines shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Hines is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Diaz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hines takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Hines is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hines looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Diaz tries to clinch up but Hines circles away and keeps his distance.

Diaz throws a series of punches but Hines avoids them all with ease.
Hines was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Hines keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Hines cracks Diaz with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hines uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Diaz.
Diaz throws a body punch but Hines moves out of range.
Hines lunges at Diaz with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Diaz's hand.

Hines lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Hines goes for a double leg but Diaz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Diaz continues to drive forward.

Hines is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Diaz's half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hines in particular looking to stall.
Hines misses with a head shot. Diaz uses the momentum to regain guard.
Diaz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hines manages to get himself to full guard.

Diaz decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Diaz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice takedown defense from Hines. No joy for Diaz on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hines stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Hines throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hines sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hines throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hines is in Diaz's guard.

Hines throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Diaz escapes and throws Hines's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hines is looking to reverse the position.

Diaz stands up and beckons Hines to his feet.

Diaz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hines tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Diaz presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Hines tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Diaz cracks Hines with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hines is in a horrible position here. Diaz smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Diaz manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hines to take his back!

Well Hines has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
