Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Nada (ranked 1097 p4p, 148 weight class) and Jose Carlos Luciano (ranked 906 p4p, 123 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luciano drops his hands momentarily and Nada takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Nada misses the shot to the body.

and Luciano counters with a solid body kick.

Nada digs a good body shot into Luciano's ribs.
Nada has been working on his balance at Tōshi, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Luciano.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Luciano.
Luciano throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Luciano needs to keep his hands up - Nada had a free shot at his head there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nada throws a body shot but no joy.

enabling Nada to counter with a crisp jab.
Luciano thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Nada if he has to take too many more of those.

Nada fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Luciano manages to avoid it.

Frank Nada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Luciano takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Luciano counters with a body kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Luciano seems to have recovered his senses.

Good leg kick by Nada there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Nada swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Luciano cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Luciano avoids the body shot from Nada.
Nada throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nada scores with a shot to the body.

enabling Luciano to counter with a crisp jab.
A swing and a miss from Nada.
Despite the aggression on Luciano's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Nada fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nada stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Luciano.

Luciano looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Luciano lands a big head kick that sends Nada tumbling to the mat! Luciano takes a step backwards and waves Nada back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Oh Nada is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A bone on bone clash there as Nada blocks the leg kick.
Nada tries to counter with a takedown but Luciano is quick to defend against it.
Nada ducks right into an uppercut from Luciano.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Luciano closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A low kick from Luciano is predictable there
and Nada connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Luciano walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Nada scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Nada fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Luciano manages to avoid it.
Nada seems to have got his legs back now.
Luciano lands with a hook. Nada tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Luciano thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nada throws a body shot but no joy.
Luciano ducks under a wild hook from Nada.
Nada throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Luciano rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nada moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Nada shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Luciano napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Luciano is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Luciano manages to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nada is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Nada will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Nada avoids the head kick by Luciano.
Luciano moves out of range of the strikes.
Luciano unleashes a big counter combination but Nada bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Nada moves out of range as Luciano strikes.
Luciano comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Nada throws a left that rocks Luciano and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Nada dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Luciano regain composure!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nada lands a big left to the face of Luciano, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Nada and another - Luciano is out! Nada stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.
