PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Karter (ranked 176 p4p, 26 weight class) and Harold Shipman (ranked 523 p4p, 71 weight class). Shipman has chosen Amazing as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Chris Karter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harold Shipman!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karter connects with a leg kick. Shipman looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Shipman fails with a takedown attempt.
Shipman misses with a jab, cross combination.

Shipman rushes Karter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Karter tries a body shot but Shipman blocks it.
Karter goes for a takedown attempt but Shipman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A jab from Shipman does it's job there.
Shipman takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

It looks like Harold Shipman has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shipman darts in looking for a takedown but Karter gets double underhooks and turns Shipman into the cage.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shipman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Karter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shipman throws a good cross that connects.
Karter swings for the body but Shipman moves out of range.
Karter takes one to the chin there.
Shipman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Karter pinned against the cage. Karter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Chris Karter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harold Shipman.
Shipman shoots in for a takedown but Karter shows good takedown defense.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Karter, right into the meat.
Karter lands a body shot.
Shipman throws a good cross that connects.
Shipman moves away from the strike by Karter.
Shipman fails to land the takedown.
Karter swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shipman has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Shipman there as he acknowledges the shot.
Karter misses with an uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shipman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Karter defends well and Shipman ends up having to push Karter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
A bone on bone clash there as Shipman blocks the leg kick.

Karter instigates a clinch.
Shipman has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Karter after a bit of a struggle.
Karter tries for a takedown. No joy.
Shipman changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Karter fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Karter chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Karter misses with a series of wild punches.

Shipman moves in looking to clinch but Karter pushes him off.
Karter shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Shipman clinches with his opponent.
Shipman can't get the takedown.
Karter lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Karter misses with the head strike.
Karter lands a body punch in the clinch.
Karter works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Shipman looks winded!
Shipman blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Karter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice jab there from Karter.

Shipman is rocked!
Shipman shoots and misses

and Karter moves into the clinch.
Shipman is still on wobbly legs! Can Karter finish him?
Karter creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Shipman's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Shipman drops to his knees and Karter pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Karter!
