Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hans Diaz (ranked 8031 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Davidson (ranked 5533 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave Davidson looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Davidson!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davidson moves into the clinch successfully.
Diaz wants to stall.

Davidson manages to break the clinch.
Diaz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Davidson misses with the combination.

Davidson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Diaz!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Davidson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Diaz is looking to improve his position but Davidson isn't that keen on the idea.
Diaz wants to control but Davidson is having none of it.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davidson escapes and gets back to his feet.

Diaz gets tackled into the cage by Davidson. Davidson maintains the clinch.

Davidson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Diaz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Davidson avoids it really well and circles away.

Davidson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diaz on his heels. He'll look to pass Diaz's guard now, I'm sure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Davidson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Davidson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Davidson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Diaz's shoulder. That is not cool.

Davidson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Diaz to his feet.

Davidson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Davidson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Diaz to the mat! Diaz manages to get full guard.
Diaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Davidson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Davidson wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Davidson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Diaz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Davidson gets to his feet. Diaz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Davidson has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.
Davidson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Diaz using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Davidson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Dave Davidson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Davidson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Diaz wants to control but Davidson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Diaz tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Davidson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davidson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Diaz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Diaz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Diaz bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Dave Davidson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Diaz postures up in Davidson's guard and throws a big left but Davidson blocks it.

Dave Davidson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Davidson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
