Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cy Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyrone Battle!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Francis DeMontford and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright tries a head kick but it misses.
Cartwright ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Battle moves away.
Battle misses the shot to the body.
Battle lands with a shot to the body.
Battle throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cartwright on the side of the head.
Tyrone Battle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cartwright fails with a takedown attempt.
Battle connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Battle cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cartwright shoots in looking for a takedown. Battle tries to sprawl out of it but Cartwright keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Battle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cy Cartwright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Battle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cartwright was well out of range. Poor timing from Battle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cartwright prevents Battle from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cartwright pushes down on Battle's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Battle pushes Cartwright off but Cartwright dives into side control.

Check out the look on Cartwright's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Cartwright cracks Battle with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Cartwright working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Battle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cartwright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cartwright is looking to take a break and control but Battle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cartwright connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Battle some visible discomfort.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Battle can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cartwright in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Battle is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
