The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mulligan gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Patrick takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Mulligan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Mulligan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Patrick napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Mulligan happy to just control the position for now.
Mulligan is looking to take a break and control but Patrick is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mulligan is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patrick tries to bench press Mulligan off him but Mulligan keeps the position.

Mulligan has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Patrick is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Mulligan yanks on the arm and Patrick is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Mulligan.
