Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Demetrius Tektas (ranked 1431 p4p, 174 weight class) and Hans Hammar (ranked 2520 p4p, 288 weight class). Tektas comes to the cage accompanied by Alexander The Great. Hammar has chosen Beast - Rob Bailey & The Hustle as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Demetrius Tektas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hans Hammar!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammar takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hammar thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hammar looks to throw the jab but Tektas is out of range.
Tektas cracks Hammar with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Tektas lands a nice shot that snaps Hammar's head back.
Tektas dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hammar connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hammar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hammar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tektas appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Tektas throws an off balance right hand
and Tektas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tektas scores with a shot to the body.

Hammar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Tektas lands a jab to Hammar's midsection.
Tektas jabs at Hammar's body.
Hammar throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Tektas counters with a shoot takedown. Hammar fights it but they end up in guard.
Hammar wants to get back to his feet but Tektas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Tektas pushes down on Hammar's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Tektas content to control rather than advance.
Tektas is looking to advance position but Hammar won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tektas trying to control the action but Hammar is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hammar can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tektas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hammar's head.
Well, if Tektas is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Tektas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hammar knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Tektas passes to side control.

Tektas is trying to get an arm triangle but Hammar is defending well.

Tektas working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Tektas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tektas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tektas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hammar is trying to buck Tektas off.

Tektas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hammar knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tektas tries to clinch up.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hammar! But no joy.
Hammar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hammar walks into a jab.
Hammar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tektas cracks Hammar with an open hand slap.
Hammar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tektas moves away.
Hammar misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tektas slips under a jab from Hammar.
Tektas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A countering left hand to the body from Hammar misses.
Tektas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hammar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hammar! But no joy.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Hammar lands with a straight right. Tektas didn't see that one coming.
Hammar ducks right into an uppercut from Tektas.
It looks like Tektas has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Hammar throws a hook to the side of Tektas's head but Tektas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tektas.

Hammar explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tektas changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Hammar tries to sprawl but Tektas drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Tektas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hammar defends it well.
Hammar is not content to let Tektas control the position.

Hammar is defending against the submission attempts here by Tektas.

Tektas is working for a kimura but Hammar is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hammar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tektas.

Tektas in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hammar tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Tektas!
