Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Melton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Train Dummy!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dummy drives through and clinches with Melton against the cage.

Dummy has clasped his hands together around Melton's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Dummy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Melton stops Dummy from passing to mount.
Melton is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dummy asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ground and pound from Dummy seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Melton is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dummy's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Dummy wants to get back to his feet.
Dummy blocks the strikes from Melton.

Dummy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Melton moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Dummy looking to sit in guard and control but Melton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Melton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Dummy's guard.
Dummy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Melton wants to get up but he can't break Dummy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Melton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Melton postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Melton stands up and waves to Dummy to follow him.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Melton enables Dummy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Melton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Melton scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Dummy gets a takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dummy tries to stand and escape but Melton is controlling the position.
Dummy is looking to take a break and control but Melton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dummy wants to advance to full mount but Melton doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Dummy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Melton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dummy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Melton will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Dummy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dummy prevents Melton from standing back up.
Dummy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are battling for position here. Melton manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dummy throws an elbow that misses. Melton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dummy's guard. Nice move by Melton!


Melton stands up from Dummy's guard - Melton perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dummy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Melton's guard.

Melton manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Melton takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Dummy feints and as Melton raises his hands in defense, Dummy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Melton is on top in guard.


Dummy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Melton defends well.

Dummy is looking to stand up but Melton isn't so interested in that idea.
Dummy tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Melton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Dummy is looking to stall here but Melton recovers full guard.

Melton looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Dummy is defending well. Melton quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Dummy has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Melton celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
