PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bashaad Al Hammad (ranked 22724 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Campos (ranked 4130 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lucas Campos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bashaad Al Hammad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Campos!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campos misses with a wild combination.
Al Hammad changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Campos has managed to clinch.

Campos gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Al Hammad regains guard.

Campos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Campos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Al Hammad escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Campos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Campos is in close to Al Hammad's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Campos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Al Hammad looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Al Hammad looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Al Hammad!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Al Hammad is keen to just control but Campos is a slippery customer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Al Hammad is staying active underneath Campos, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Campos ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Campos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Campos has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Al Hammad clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Al Hammad dives in for a single leg takedown but Campos sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Al Hammad shoots in looking for a takedown. Campos tries to sprawl out of it but Al Hammad keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Campos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lucas Campos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Campos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
