Fredrick is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz: Throw It Up. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 16 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronald Fredrick!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gartzen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gartzen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Fredrick gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Gartzen keeps control of Fredrick as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Fredrick breaks from the clinch.
Fredrick throws a sloppy head kick and Gartzen moves out of range easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fredrick. Gartzen does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Gartzen. Fredrick shrugs it off though.
Fredrick lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gartzen circles away quickly and effectively.

Fredrick has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fredrick wants to get back to striking at distance but Gartzen won't allow it.
Fredrick swings away with an uppercut that misses.

It looks like Ronald Fredrick has been cut.
Fredrick looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Our sources have told us that Gartzen has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

Fredrick is trying to break the clinch but Gartzen is controlling him.

Fredrick breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gartzen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fredrick needs to keep his hands up - Gartzen had a free shot at his head there.

Fredrick swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gartzen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fredrick wants to counter with a clinch but Gartzen pushes him away.

It looked like Gartzen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Fredrick tries to clinch up.

Fredrick rushes Gartzen and presses him up against the ropes.

Gartzen gets through Fredrick's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Gartzen lands a hook that snaps the head of Fredrick backwards.
A short body shot lands from Gartzen as the two fighters clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gartzen scores with a jab and follows up with an uppercut that drops Fredrick to his knees! He bounces straight back to his feet but is forced to take the mandatory standing 8 count before he's allowed to continue. We're back under way and the fighters meet in the middle of the canvas to re-engage.
Gartzen digs a good body shot into Fredrick's ribs.

Fredrick has Gartzen up against the ropes in a clinch.

Gartzen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Muhammad Gartzen is winning the standup battle so far.
Fredrick tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ronald Fredrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gartzen lands a shot to the body.

Gartzen manages to break the clinch.

Gartzen throws out a head kick that Fredrick doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Fredrick crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Fredrick's eyes and has decided to let it go on!

Fredrick is still on wobbly legs! Can Gartzen finish him?

Fredrick gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fredrick seems to have recovered his senses.

Gartzen breaks the clinch momentarily and cracks Fredrick with a big right hook that drops him to the canvas! Fredrick looks like he might be in big trouble here! The referee has started the count straight away and we're up to 5 already. Fredrick get to one knee - can he make it back to his feet? Yes, he's struggled back up to his feet and seems OK to continue. The referee agrees so we're back to the action!

That has opened up Ronald Fredrick's cut even more.
Gartzen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fredrick manages to avoid it.
Gartzen throws a body punch but Fredrick moves out of range.

Gartzen punishes Fredrick's body with a nice straight punch.
Fredrick is breathing heavily.
Gartzen lands a nice shot to the body.
Gartzen connects with a body shot that sends Fredrick's belly button to the back.
Gartzen sizes up Fredrick with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Gartzen throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Fredrick is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the ropes! Wow!
