Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Queen (ranked 3196 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Santos (ranked 3705 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver Queen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gustavo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Queen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Santos.
Queen swings for the body but Santos moves out of range.
Queen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Santos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Queen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Queen shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Queen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown. Queen fights it but they end up in guard.
Queen lands a decent punch to the body there.
Santos tries to free his leg and advance position but Queen is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Queen wants to sweep but no luck.
Queen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Santos stays in close to Queen's body and controls the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Queen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Santos quickly recovers to half guard.
Queen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Santos felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Santos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Queen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Queen's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Queen looking for a sweep. Not yet Queen, not yet.
Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Queen tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Queen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A close round but Gustavo Santos will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Santos is pressed up against the cage. Queen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Santos down to the mat. Santos avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Santos is taking a breather. Queen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Queen just misses with a punch to the body.
Queen lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Santos at a distance.
Santos fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Queen feinted with a counter takedown.
A shot to the liver by Santos. Beautiful body shot.
Queen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santos tries to avoid it but Queen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santos to the ground. Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Santos tries to clinch but Queen moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santos doesn't manage to clinch there - Queen circles away.
Queen appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Santos clobbers Queen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Queen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Gustavo Santos will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Queen misses the jab.
Queen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Santos throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A jab lands there for Santos.
Queen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Santoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd cheers as Queen lands an impressive looking overhand right. Santos doesn't seem phased though.

Santos looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Santos has his foot on Queen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Queen works his way back into a safe position though.
Queen wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Santos lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Santos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Queen strikes from the bottom but Santos uses the opportunity to move to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Oliver Queen.
I think Santos has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
