PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Unknown Combatant (ranked 1829 p4p, 264 weight class) and Ken Ring (ranked 3532 p4p, 456 weight class). Combatant comes to the cage accompanied by Liberation. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Unknown Combatant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Ring!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Combatant gets tackled into the cage by Ring. Ring maintains the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Ring.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Combatant.
Combatant blocks an uppercut.
Ring has a couple of punches blocked by Combatant.
Combatant tries to stall but Ring uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Ring tries to work over Combatant's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ring.
Ring working aggressively here.
Combatant goes for a takedown attempt but Ring pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Ring moves into the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ring.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Combatant escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Combatant lands a jab-cross combination.
Combatant tries to land a front kick but Ring steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Combatant rushes Ring and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ring lands a left hand that snaps the head of Combatant backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ring has a couple of punches blocked by Combatant.
Ring misses with a hook from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A right hook to the body lands for Combatant.

Combatant breaks the clinch.
Combatant fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ring checks it well.

Combatant clinches up against the cage.
Combatant taking a breather.
Combatant working hard to break the clinch.
Ring working aggressively here.
Combatant is looking to control Ring's arms but Ring gets an underhook and turns him. Now Combatant has his back to the cage.
Combatant blocks a body shot from Ring.
Ring has a couple of punches blocked by Combatant.
Ring being controlled against the cage.
Combatant is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ring pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ring throws a head punch that misses.
Combatant blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ring tries a body shot but Combatant blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Combatant is working for takedown but Ring is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Unknown Combatant. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ring cracks Combatant with a nice body shot.
Ring leaning against his opponent.
Ring struggles to land a body shot inside as Combatant controls his hands.
Ring gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Combatant.
Ring swings wildly with an uppercut but Combatant uses good head movement to avoid it.

Combatant gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Ring regains guard.
Combatant is stalling in the full guard.
Combatant stands and throws Ring's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Combatant working the body and head with strikes.
Ring throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Combatant is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Ring is trying to escape and Combatant transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Ring is forced to tap! Nice work there by Combatant! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Unknown Combatant!
