The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulmann misses with a right hand
and Brynjar counters with a two punch combo.

and Schulmann counters with a right hand to the body.
Schulmann takes a swing at Brynjar's ribcage but misses.
A head kick from Schulmann lands but Brynjar takes it in his stride.

Schulmann really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Schulmann crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Brynjar - the referee stops the clock and Schulmann gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Brynjar. Schulmann manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Schulmann counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Some bone on bone action there as Brynjar checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Brynjar parries the strikes from Schulmann easily there. Schulmann is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Brynjar to escape.
Schulmann tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Schulmann has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Schulmann thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Schulmann is looking to take a break and control but Brynjar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Schulmann is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Brynjar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brynjar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
