PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Darragh Kelly (ranked 2127 p4p, 210 weight class) and Watsz Mawe (ranked 1633 p4p, 168 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelly throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kelly throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Mawe shoots in and gets a takedown into Kelly's guard.
Mawe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kelly looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mawe is one step ahead there.

Kelly is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mawe is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kelly throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mawe uses it to pass to side control.
Mawe scores with punches from side control.
Kelly trying to remain calm as Mawe controls from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kelly tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mawe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kelly manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mawe's best efforts.

Kelly looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kelly wants to improve his position but Mawe is controlling well.

Mawe is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Kelly wants to control but Mawe is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kelly trying to get back to full guard but Mawe takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Mawe tries to control but Kelly wriggling away.
Kelly bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Kelly wants to control from the top but Mawe keeps moving.

Kelly is posturing up here but Mawe has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Kelly tries to roll out but it's too tight and Kelly has to tap! Slick submission there by Mawe!

A very excited looking Watsz Mawe rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
