PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roy Finnegan (ranked 1922 p4p, 237 weight class) and Hamish Reid (ranked 1885 p4p, 234 weight class). Finnegan comes to the cage accompanied by The Rogues - Gravel Walk. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Finnegan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hamish Reid!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Reid lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Finnegan looks to land a right hand but Reid moved out of range.
A slow jab from Reid misses its intended target.
Finnegan misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Reid counters with a stiff right hand.
Reid is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Finnegan.
Finnegan misses the jab.
Reid replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Finnegan blocks it well.
Reid fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Finnegan on the side of the head.
Reid thuds a left hand into Finnegan's body.
Reid moves out of range of the strikes.
Finnegan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Finnegan backing away here, and Reid unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Reid tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Finnegan was well out of range. Poor timing from Reid.
Nice uppercut there from Reid.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Finnegan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reid.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Reid! But no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reid cracks the inside of Finnegan's front leg.
Finnegan throws a sloppy body shot
and Reid counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Finnegan throws an overhand right that lands on Reid's shoulder, as Reid tries to avoid the shot.
Reid looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Reid uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Finnegan.
A combination from Reid does no damage.
Reid motions for Finnegan to come forward. Reid throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Finnegan has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Reid.
Finnegan avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've been informed that Reid has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Finnegan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Finnegan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Roy Finnegan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Finnegan throws a body punch but Reid moves out of range.
Finnegan swings for the body but Reid moves out of range.
Reid looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Reid jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Reid cracks Finnegan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Reid moves away from the strike by Finnegan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And Reid responds with a good body kick, but Finnegan manages to step out the way in time.

Finnegan moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromReid.

Reid ducks under a wild hook from Finnegan.
Reid raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Reid lands a nice looking body shot.
Finnegan throws a sloppy body shot
and Reid counters with a good low kick that Finnegan was not able to check.
Reid throws a lazy body kick
and Finnegan counters with a straight right hand.
Reid works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Finnegan swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Reid counters with a good, hard body kick but Finnegan shrugs it off.
Finnegan is breathing heavily.
Finnegan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Reid steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Finnegan misses with a combination

and Reid counters with a head kick that drops Finnegan to the mat! Finnegan scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Finnegan is rocked!
Crack! A monster head kick from Reid and Finnegan falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Reid!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Hamish Reid!
