PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Njord Norden (ranked 1054 p4p, 139 weight class) and Boris Kane (ranked 1945 p4p, 232 weight class). Norden kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise. Kane has chosen Seek N Strike as his entrance music. Njord Norden has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kane, as that shot connected.
Kane throws a low kick, looking for Norden's leg but Norden calmly moves out of range.
Kane moves out of range of the leg kick from Norden.
A swing and a miss from Kane.
Norden takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Nice defenses there by Norden.
Norden wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kane on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Norden. Norden obviously looking to wear him down.
An inside leg kick from Norden misses.
Norden uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kane.
Kane misses with a wild body shot.
Kane looks to land a right hand but Norden moved out of range.
Norden avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Norden throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily.
Norden tries to close the distance and clinch but Kane swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kane lands with an overhand left.
Nice takedown defense from Norden. No joy for Kane on that attempt.
Kane shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Norden pinned against the cage. Norden gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As Kane tries to get set, Norden tries to push him back and clinch up but Kane manages to avoid the attempt.

Kane drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Njord Norden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boris Kane.
Norden struggles to land a body shot inside as Kane controls his hands.
Norden tries to work over Kane's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Norden swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch on the inside from Norden fails to land.
Kane managing to block the knees to the body from Norden.
Kane has Norden pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Norden manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kane is working for takedown but Norden is calmly controlling the position for now.

Kane gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Kane is working for a submission of some sort.
Kane wants to control but Norden is keeping him busy.
Kane throwing shots but Norden is blocking nicely.
Norden is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard.
Kane not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Norden tries to kick Kane off but Kane keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kane is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Norden has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Kane is keen to just control but Norden is a slippery customer.

Kane looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Norden is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kane trying to control the pace.

Kane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Norden has hold of Kane's hands but Kane slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Norden looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kane looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Norden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Norden is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boris Kane dominated that round.
That's time! Norden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Norden moves out of range of the strikes.
Kane lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kane shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Norden but Norden pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Norden tries to clinch up.
Kane darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Norden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kane swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice defenses there by Norden.
Kane throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Norden seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Norden throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Boris Kane has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kane avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Norden shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Norden gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kane.
Norden throws the left hand but Kane avoids the punch easily.
Kane just misses with a punch to the body.

A bone on bone clash there as Norden blocks the leg kick.
Norden seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Kane looks to land a left hand but Norden moved out of range nicely.
Norden throws an overhand right that lands on Kane's shoulder, as Kane tries to avoid the shot.
Kane connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Norden's hands.
Kane has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Norden.
Kane connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Kane with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Norden to score with a decent uppercut.
A bone on bone clash there as Norden blocks the leg kick.
Norden throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kane.
Njord Norden is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kane cracks Norden with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Norden staying out of range there.
Kane lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kane misses with a body shot.
Norden doesn't manage to clinch there - Kane circles away.

Norden gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kane to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Norden keeping moving, preventing Kane from controlling successfully.
Norden wants to stand and escape but Kane is having none of it.
Kane is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kane forces his way into half guard.
Norden looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kane thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Norden's head.
Norden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kane on the ground.

Kane trying to control the position but Norden is working away.
My spies in Big dawg inform me that Kane has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Norden is trying to buck Kane off.

Kane thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kane is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Norden has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Norden, who protects the arm well.

Kane is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Norden knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kane tries to advance to mount but can't.
Norden is trying to buck Kane off.
Kane throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Kane has hold of Norden's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Norden tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kane cranks the arm and Norden screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Norden, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Boris Kane!
A very excited looking Boris Kane rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
