PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Bianchi (ranked 2924 p4p, 335 weight class) and Johnny Ringo (ranked 2441 p4p, 280 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Bianchi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ringo!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bianchi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Left hook, right uppercut from Ringo.

Ringo clinches up against the cage.

Bianchi has hold of one of Ringo's legs. Ringo is fighting the takedown attempt but Bianchi gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Ringo is trying to control the position but Bianchi postures up.
Bianchi won't allow Ringo to get back to his feet.
Bianchi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ringo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ringo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Ringo is looking to stand up but Bianchi isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bianchi works the jab nicely.
Bianchi bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Ringo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bianchi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Bianchi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Bianchi passes Ringo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bianchi throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bianchi wants to take a breather but Ringo is having none of it.
Ringo wants to get back to his feet.
Ringo is looking for a sweep. Bianchi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bianchi is looking to advance position but Ringo won't allow it.
Bianchi is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ringo reverses the position - he's now on top in Bianchi's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bianchi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ringo looking to pass the guard.

Bianchi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ringo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Bianchi dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sloppy strikes from Ringo. Those never looked like landing.
Bianchi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ringos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Bianchi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ringo.
Bianchi slips under a jab from Ringo.
Ringo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bianchi.
Ringo shoots in and drives through. Bianchi sprawls well.
Bianchi looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ringo lands a slapping body shot.
Ringo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ringo misses with a low kick as Bianchi jumps back.
Bianchi misses with a right hand
and Ringo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ringo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ringo takes a swing at Bianchi's ribcage but misses.

Ringo misses with a wild combination.
Bianchi fails with a takedown attempt.
Bianchi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bianchi wants it to stay on the feet.
Bianchi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Good exchange - Bianchi coming out on top.
Ringo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Johnny Ringo seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ringo looks to score with a jab to the body but Bianchi is just out of range.
Ringo on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Bianchi takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Ringo is rocked!
Bianchi lands an overhand right.
Ringo is still on wobbly legs! Can Bianchi finish him?
Bianchi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ringo.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ringo glances at the clock... BAM! Bianchi nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Ringo crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Ringo is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bobby Bianchi!
After winning the bout, Bobby Bianchi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
