Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andre Clay (ranked 1668 p4p, 78 weight class) and Ashton Knuckles (ranked 3165 p4p, 164 weight class). Clay's entrance music is Believe. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ashton Knuckles was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andre Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ashton Knuckles!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay throws a body punch but Knuckles moves out of range.
Knuckles takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Knuckles lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Clay looks to throw the jab but Knuckles is out of range.

Knuckles dives in and scores a takedown into Clay's guard.
Clay keeping moving, preventing Knuckles from controlling successfully.
Knuckles slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Knuckles looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Clay is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Knuckles tries for a kimura but Clay is defending well.

Knuckles tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Knuckles has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Clay wants to control but Knuckles postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Clay takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Clay avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Knuckles.
Clay's coaches at The Coffee Shop have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Clay regains half guard.
Knuckles has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Clay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Knuckles decides to stand up.
A left lands for Clay.
A punch combination from Clay misses.
Knuckles tries to counter with a clinch but Clay shakes him off and moves away.
Knuckles misses with a wild combination.
Knuckles finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Knuckles checks a low kick from Clay.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knuckles feints and then cracks Clay's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Clay down.
Clay slips a jab and a cross from Knuckles.
Knuckles uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Clay.
Knuckles rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Clay moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Knuckles misses with a hook to the body
and Knuckles takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Andre Clay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Knuckles staying out of range there.
Clay throws a body punch but Knuckles moves out of range.
Clay throws a big shot that misses.
Clay fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Clay throws a lazy right hand but Knuckles sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Knuckles drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Clay defends it well.
Knuckles looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Clay stalks Knuckles and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Knuckles's face. Knuckles staggers backwards, shaken.
Knuckles swinging wildly here.
Clay connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


Knuckles is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clay lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Knuckles at a distance.
Knuckles throws a looping overhand right but Clay ducks down to avoid it.
Knuckles shoots in for a takedown but Clay shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Clay fires out a quick counter leg kick but Knuckles just manages to avoid it.
Knuckles takes one to the chin there.
Knuckles is still on wobbly legs! Can Clay finish him?
Clay lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Andre Clay!
After the fight, Andre Clay was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
