PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duffy (ranked 9292 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alucard Dracule (ranked 25513 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Duffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Alucard Dracule!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dracule gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Duffy misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dracule.

Dracule has hold of one of Duffy's legs. Duffy is fighting the takedown attempt but Dracule gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Duffy seems keen to control Dracule's posture.
Duffy really is a fat lump.
Dracule trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Dracule trying to control the position from guard on top but Duffy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dracule is fighting to break Duffy's control of his arms but Duffy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duffy wants to sweep here but Dracule controlling him for the moment.
Duffy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Dracule trying to control but Duffy is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dracule tries to free his leg and advance position but Duffy is retaining full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Duffy gets tackled into the cage by Dracule. Dracule maintains the clinch.
Dracule has Duffy pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Duffy manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Duffy tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dracule avoids it.
Dracule drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Duffy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Duffy misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dracule fails to pull guard.
Jim Duffy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alucard Dracule.

It looks like Jim Duffy has been cut.
Duffy wants to stall.

Dracule manages to pull guard.
Duffy trying to control but Dracule is working from the bottom.
Dracule preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Duffy trying to control the position from guard on top but Dracule is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Duffy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Duffy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Duffy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Duffy wants to control from the top but Dracule keeps moving.

Dracule has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Duffy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dracule is trying to control the position but Duffy postures up.

Duffy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dracule.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dracule is trying to drag Duffy to the mat but Duffy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Dracule.

Dracule is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Duffy can't fight it off and eventually Dracule manages to take the fight to the floor. Duffy looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dracule working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Duffy is pulling down on Dracule's head. It's preventing any offense from Dracule, at least for the moment.
Duffy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alucard Dracule dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jim Duffy's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Duffy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alucard Dracule seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Duffy pushes Dracule up against the cage in a clinch.
Duffy prevents the takedown attempt.
Duffy tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Dracule jumps guard but Duffy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Dracule is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Duffy to keep the fight standing.
Jim Duffy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alucard Dracule.

Dracule breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dracule circles away from the clinch attempt.
Despite the aggression on Dracule's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Duffy misses with a head kick.
Duffy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dracule.
Dracule just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromDuffy.
Dracule shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dracule keeps the fight on the outside.
Dracule tries to counter by closing the distance.
Dracule shoots in for a takedown but Duffy shows good takedown defense.
Duffy throws a quick counter head kick but Dracule was just out of range.
Duffy stuffs the takedown attempt from Dracule. Dracule gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Duffy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Dracule shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Duffy has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Dracule is on him like a limpet, forcing Duffy back against the cage.
Duffy tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dracule prevents a body shot from Duffy.
Dracule is trying to pull guard but Duffy has him pressed against the cage.
Duffy is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Dracule putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Duffy in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Dracule's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Duffy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Dracule counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Duffy is not content to let Dracule control the position.
Duffy works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dracule works over Duffy with some ground and pound from guard.

Dracule drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Duffy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dracule has Duffy in his guard.

Duffy is working Dracule over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Duffy wants to control from the top but Dracule keeps moving.
Dracule not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Duffy sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Duffy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Duffy drops back looking for a leg! Dracule is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dracule manages to kick Duffy off! Duffy jumps back into Dracule's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Duffy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Dracule throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Duffy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Dracule wants to slow Duffy down by chopping away at his legs.
Dracule misses with a hook
and Duffy counters with a head kick. That will keep Dracule thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Dracule gets a takedown into half guard.

Duffy manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Duffy stuffs the takedown attempt from Dracule. Dracule gets slowly back to his feet.

Duffy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duffy wants it to stay on the feet.
Duffy attempts a counter takedown but Dracule avoids it well and moves away.
Dracule misses with a takedown attempt - Duffy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Duffy seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Dracule moves into the clinch.
Duffy fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Dracule is trying to pull guard but Duffy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Duffy gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Dracule.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dracule jumps guard and drags Duffy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Dracule takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Duffy advances position into side control!
Duffy works to advance to full mount. Dracule defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Duffy is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Dracule is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Dracule flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Duffy anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Dracule and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Duffy slips an arm under Dracule chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Duffy has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Duffy is squeezing on Dracule like an anaconda would it's prey. Dracule fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
