Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erich Stanley (ranked 24862 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Barnes (ranked 6014 p4p, 0 weight class). Erich Stanley is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erich Stanley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanley fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stanley.
Stanley shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Barnes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erich Stanley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Barnes. No joy for Stanley on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stanley did well to prevent Barnes getting side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Barnes circles away from the clinch attempt.

Barnes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Stanley quickly recovers to half guard.
Barnes is keen to just control but Stanley is a slippery customer.
Barnes stops Stanley from getting back to his feet.

Barnes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Barnes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stanley keeps working.

The fighters are battling for position here. Stanley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Stanley really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Stanley doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stanley is on top in guard.

Barnes wants to get back to his feet but Stanley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Stanley wants to clinch up but Barnes keeps it at a distance.
Barnes slaps away a takedown attempt from Stanley, before circling back to the center of the mat.
As Stanley backs off Barnes throws a huge counter combo but Stanley manages to avoid it all.

Barnes instigates a clinch.

Barnes lands a takedown into guard.

Stanley has his feet on Barnes's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Barnes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A thudding body kick lands there by Barnes!
Barnes thuds his right hand into Stanley's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Erich Stanley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stanley shoots in for a double leg but Barnes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Barnes unleashes a big counter combination but Stanley bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Barnes uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Stanley has time to react.

Stanley is trying to hold Barnes in close to prevent damage but Barnes has managed to pass into half guard.
Stanley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barnes is working away from the top position though.
Barnes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Stanley is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Barnes works his way into full mount!
Stanley is working to get back to half guard.
Stanley is trying to stand up.
Stanley bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Barnes scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Stanley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barnes as he avoids it easily.

Barnes drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stanley is looking to stand up but Barnes isn't so interested in that idea.
Barnes throws a big right hand that misses.
Barnes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stanley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stanley wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Aaron Barnes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Barnes lands a head kick. Stanley smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Barnes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Barnes connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Barnes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Barnes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Stanley moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Stanley darts in looking for a takedown but Barnes gets double underhooks and turns Stanley into the cage.
Erich Stanley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Aaron Barnes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Barnes is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Aaron Barnes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Barnes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
