Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Jons (ranked 6048 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coukie Catter (ranked 8806 p4p, 0 weight class). Coukie Catter is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Jons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Coukie Catter!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jons tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Catter defends well and Jons ends up having to push Catter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jons shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sloppy strikes from Catter. Those never looked like landing.
Jons appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Catter moves into the clinch.
Catter is trying to break free.
Catter working hard to break the clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Catter lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Catter gets through Jons's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Catter content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Catter throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jonss head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Catter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jons backwards.
Catter has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jons drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Catter gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Catter gets control of Jons's arms and successfully pulls guard. Catter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Catter scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Catter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Jons fails to pull guard.
Catter looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jons has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Catter after a bit of a struggle.
Jons is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jons wants to stall.
Jons jumps guard but Catter stands there with Jons around his waist. Jons gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jons is looking to break free of the clinch but Catter has double underhooks.
Catter lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jons or not.

Catter lands with a left to the head.
Catter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jons backwards.
Catter lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Jons trying to control the position but instead, Catter has worked for underhooks and has pushed Jons into the cage.

Catter jumps guard and drags Jons to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Catter controlling the position.
Jons trying to control the position from guard on top but Catter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jons wants to stand but Catter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jons wants to control from the top but Catter keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Catter is on top in guard.

Catter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Catter throwing strikes but missing.
Catter works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Catter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jons keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Catter is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Catter thows a huge punch but Jons dodges it nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Catter wants to stand up but Jons is controlling the position.
Ground and pound from Catter.
Catter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Catter is trying to control. Jons wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Catter looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jons is trying to stand back up but Catter is controlling him

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jons tries a low kick but Catter avoids it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Catter makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Jons fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coukie Catter dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jons tries to clinch up.

Catter closes the distance and clinches.

Catter jumps into guard, dragging Jons to the mat.
Catter pulls Jons in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jons trying to control but Catter is working from the bottom.

Catter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Jons wanted to stand there but Catter had control of the position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Catter manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Catter struggles to land a body shot inside as Jons controls his hands.
Coukie Catter seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Jons has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Catter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Catter lands a nice uppercut.
Jons is working for takedown but Catter is calmly controlling the position for now.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Catter.

Jons wants to stall.

Catter manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Catter wants to get back to his feet but Jons is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jons wants to control from the top but Catter keeps moving.

Catter has his feet on Jons's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Catter forces Jons back against the cage and clinches.

Jons keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Catter's efforts to push away.
Catter working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Jons tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Catter smiles and moves away.

Jons is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Catter leaves Jons with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As Jons backs off Catter throws a huge counter combo but Jons manages to avoid it all.
Jons fails in his attempt to clinch.
Catter tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jons defends well and Catter ends up having to push Jons into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jons tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Catter unleashes a big counter combination but Jons bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Jons throws a head kick that misses.
Jons tries to clinch there but Catter circles away.

Catter takes the fight into the clinch.
Catter makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jons's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Catter lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Catter.
Catter has had enough of the clinch but Jons keeps him there for the moment.

Catter is trying to trip Jons. He has hold of a leg but Jons is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Catter persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Jons is wriggling around but Catter manages to pass to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jons is defending against the submission attempts here by Catter.

Coukie Catter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Jons gets tackled into the cage by Catter. Catter maintains the clinch.
Catter looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jons is trying to break the clinch but Catter has him pressed against the cage.
Jons takes a shot to the head.
Catter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jons backwards.
Catter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jons tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Catter smiles and moves away.
Jons shoots in for a double leg but Catter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Catter jumps guard and drags Jons to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Catter is controlling Jons's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Catter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jons is looking to advance position but Catter has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Coukie Catter has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jons bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Catter pushes Jons off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Jons jumps guard but Catter stands there with Jons around his waist. Jons gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Catter tries to work over Jons's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Jons stops Catter from standing up.
Catter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Catter decides to stand and escape the position.

Jons prevents a takedown attempt there.

Catter drags the fight down to the ground.

Catter has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jons has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Jons's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Catter lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jons backwards.
Catter working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Catter drags the fight down to the ground.
Jons prevents Catter from getting back to his feet.
Jons wants to stand but Catter is controlling his posture from full guard.
Jons trying to control but Catter is working from the bottom.

Catter has his hands on Jons's head, controlling the position.
Jons won't allow Catter to sweep him here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Catter can do anything to dispel that myth.

Coukie Catter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Catter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
