Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cartel Lopez (ranked 3585 p4p, 373 weight class) and DJ Strawberry (ranked 2035 p4p, 248 weight class). Strawberry has chosen Beastie Boys-Brass Monkey as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lopez lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Strawberry has clasped his hands together around Lopez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Lopez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Lopez tries to buck Strawberry off but Strawberry is having none of it.
Strawberry in side control lands a decent elbow.

That was a close round but I would say that Cartel Lopez will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lopez shoots in and drives through. Strawberry sprawls well.

Strawberry tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lopez was well out of range. Poor timing from Strawberry.
Lopez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Strawberry explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

It looks like Cartel Lopez has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lopez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Strawberry steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Lopez.
Lopez slips a jab and a cross from Strawberry.
Lopez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Strawberry tries to avoid it but Lopez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Strawberry to the ground. Strawberry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lopez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Strawberry did well to prevent Lopez getting side control.
Strawberry is looking for a sweep. Lopez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lopez wants to pass the guard but Strawberry is defending well.

Lopez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lopez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Strawberry does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

DJ Strawberry has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lopez takes Strawberry's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Strawberry is in trouble.

Lopez is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Strawberry with him. Strawberry is trying to defend but Lopez has an arm under the chin now! Strawberry grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cartel Lopez!
After winning the bout, Cartel Lopez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, DJ Strawberry stepped up to the mic, saying 'i'm young and I will continue to get better, there is no doubt in my mind I will be a champ one day. Get on the bandwagon before its full.... Going to my after party. I got the blow and Chinese chicks waiting for me...'.
