PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murray Rothbard (ranked 1176 p4p, 171 weight class) and Howland Reed (ranked 3473 p4p, 451 weight class). Rothbard comes to the cage accompanied by Anarchy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Murray Rothbard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Howland Reed!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Darius Henderson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reed drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rothbard is trying to improve his position.
Reed tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rothbard parries the strikes from Reed easily there. Reed is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rothbard to escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Reed shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rothbard manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Rothbard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reed on the ground.

A decent looking cross lands there for Rothbard.
Reed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rothbard tries to avoid it but Reed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rothbard to the ground. Rothbard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jab, jab by Reed - just one landing.
Rothbard connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reed drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Reed looks to score with a jab to the body but Rothbard is just out of range.
A quick step to the side and Rothbard tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Howland Reed is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

A bone on bone clash there as Reed blocks the leg kick.

and Rothbard counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Reed lands with an uppercut that bounces Rothbard off the cage and back into range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reed walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Rothbard lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Reed is still on wobbly legs! Can Rothbard finish him?
Rothbard weaves into range and cracks Reed right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Reed goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Rothbard is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Murray Rothbard!
