PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Jackson (ranked 2733 p4p, 306 weight class) and Jari Aarnio (ranked 2094 p4p, 252 weight class). Jackson comes into the arena with Beat It blaring out of the sound system. Aarnio has chosen Ice Cube - Why We Thugs as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mikael Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jari Aarnio!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson feints and then cracks Aarnio's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Aarnio down.
Aarnio slips a jab and a cross from Jackson.
Jackson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Jackson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Aarnio counters with a nice uppercut.

Jackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Jackson tries for a kimura but Aarnio is defending well.
Aarnio is not content to let Jackson control the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson is staying tight to Aarnio's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Aarnio is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aarnio parries the strikes from Jackson easily there. Jackson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Aarnio to escape.
Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Aarnio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson scores with punches from side control.
Aarnio being controlled for a moment.
Jackson wants to control but Aarnio is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Check out the look on Jackson's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Jackson looking to control but instead Aarnio has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Aarnio is staying active underneath Jackson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Aarnio is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Aarnio tries to roll over but Jackson keeps him under control.
Jackson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Aarnio tries to roll over but Jackson keeps him under control.
Aarnio is not content to let Jackson control the position.
Jackson controlling the pace.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Jackson stalling away here and it's allowed Aarnio to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Aarnio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Aarnio trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Aarnio advances to half guard.
Jackson is trying to maintain the position but Aarnio is very close to passing his half guard.
Aarnio frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jackson wants to control but Aarnio is having none of it.
Aarnio wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Aarnio tries to control but Jackson wriggling away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jackson manages to regain half guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mikael Jackson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jackson misses the body punch
letting Aarnio counter with a right hand.
Aarnio takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Jackson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jackson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Aarnio counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jackson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Jackson throws a right hand that misses
and Aarnio counters with a stiff right hand.
Jackson misses with a hook
and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Jackson is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson lands with an overhand left.
Oh Jackson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Aarnio blocks a jab.
Aarnio with the counter takedown but Jackson avoids it easily.
Jackson misses with a right hand
and Aarnio counters with a big right hand! Oh Jackson is in trouble here! Aarnio follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jari Aarnio!
Jari Aarnio spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
