Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Unknown Combatant (ranked 1487 p4p, 215 weight class) and Dai Zexi (ranked 2310 p4p, 325 weight class). Combatant comes to the cage accompanied by Liberation. The key to victory for Unknown Combatant has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Unknown Combatant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dai Zexi!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ben Hemmingworth and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Zexi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Zexi throws a looping overhand right but Combatant ducks down to avoid it.
Combatant dives in and grabs Zexi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zexi pushes down on Combatant's head and hops out.
Combatant shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zexi pinned against the cage. Zexi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Combatant fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Unknown Combatant. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zexi misses with a wild body shot.
Combatant shoots in looking for a takedown. Zexi tries to sprawl out of it but Combatant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zexi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Combatant gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zexi has had enough of the clinch but Combatant keeps him there for the moment.
Combatant throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Zexis head.
Combatant blocks a body shot from Zexi.
Zexi has picked Combatant up - he's going for a ride! Zexi dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zexi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Combatant is not content to let Zexi control the position.
Combatant's coaches at Sydney Combat Method have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Combatant tries to roll over but Zexi keeps him under control.
Zexi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Zexi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Combatant is trying to control but can't.
Combatant won't allow Zexi to pass to mount.
Combatant wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zexi wants to free his trapped foot but Combatant is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Combatant is looking for a sweep. Zexi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Zexi is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Combatant is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dai Zexi!
A relieved looking Dai Zexi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
