And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Claremont!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Claremont.

Claremont ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gonzalez moves away.

Claremont is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Gonzalez had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Claremont stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Claremont thumps Gonzalez with a low kick.
Sloppy strikes from Claremont. Those never looked like landing.

Gonzalez looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Brian Claremont is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Claremont dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gonzalez. That did some damage!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Gonzalez might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Gonzalez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Claremont avoids it really well and circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Claremont lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Gonzalez has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Claremont finds it's way round the side to connect with Gonzalez's head.
Claremont has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gonzalez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gonzalez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Gonzalez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Claremont to the ground. Gonzalez is now in Claremont's guard.
Gonzalez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gonzalez wants to pass the guard but Claremont is keeping the position.

Claremont is pulling down on Gonzalez's head. It's preventing any offense from Gonzalez, at least for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Claremont can do anything to dispel that myth.

Claremont got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gonzalez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Claremont has managed to get both his arms back between Gonzalez's legs - danger averted.

Brian Claremont showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gonzalez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Claremont counters with a stiff right hand.
Gonzalez looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Gonzalez looks to land a right hand but Claremont moved out of range.

Claremont explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Gonzalez is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Claremont thuds his right hand into Gonzalez's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Claremont steps in with a hook that catches Gonzalez right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Claremont follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Gonzalez looks absolutely devastated.
