Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Conor Martin (ranked 8534 p4p, 648 weight class) and Mark Mitchell (ranked 4415 p4p, 472 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conor Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Martin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Mitchell tries to get set, Martin tries to push him back and clinch up but Mitchell manages to avoid the attempt.
Martin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mitchell throws a counter combo.
Martin throws a series of punches but Mitchell moves out of range.
Mitchell is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Martin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mitchell pulls Martin into guard.

Mitchell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mitchell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Martin controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mitchell takes the fight into the clinch.

Mitchell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mitchell has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Martin is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Mitchell throws a push kick but Martin slaps the foot to one side.

Martin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Martin seems to be looking for submissions.
Mitchell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Martin is working away from the top position though.

Martin is looking to take a break and control but Mitchell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mitchell is positioning himself well to prevent Martin advancing to mount.
Mitchell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Martin is working away from the top position though.

A close round but Mark Mitchell will probably get the nod.

Mitchell goes for a double leg but Martin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Martin continues to drive forward.
Mitchell lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Mitchell lands with a nice combination. Martin backs away looking to recover.

Mitchell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Oh Martin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Martin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mitchell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Martin seems to have got his legs back now.

Martin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Martin tries to stand but Mitchell is controlling from the bottom.
Mitchell wants to get back to his feet but Martin passes into half guard.

Mitchell is not content to let Martin control the position.
Martin frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Martin is landing with some decent strikes but Mitchell is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Martin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Mitchell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mitchell is staying active underneath Martin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Martin wants to pass the guard but Mitchell is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Conor Martin will probably get the nod.

Martin is looking to break free of the clinch but Mitchell has double underhooks.
Mitchell is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Mitchell throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Martin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mitchell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Mitchell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Martin manages to get himself to full guard.

Martin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mitchell kicks off Martin and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mitchell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Martin circles away quickly and effectively.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Mitchell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mitchell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
