Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tim Slater (ranked 3735 p4p, 304 weight class) and Charles Kenway (ranked 3808 p4p, 306 weight class). Slater comes to the cage accompanied by Chad VanGaalen - Blonde Hash. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charles Kenway!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenway steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Slater.
Kenway on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Kenway fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Slater to the ground. Kenway is now in Slater's guard.
Kenway pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slater is keeping the position for now.
Kenway trying to control the position from guard on top but Slater is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kenway is looking to advance position but Slater has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kenway can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slater throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Slater controlling the position easily from mount.

Slater avoids the attempt from Kenway to control.
Kenway is desperately trying to improve his position but Slater has a good base and remains in mount.
Slater is trying to take his opponent's back.
Kenway felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Slater trying to control but Kenway is having none of it.
Slater pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Slater is working for a guillotine from mount but Kenway frees his head quite easily.
Kenway is working to get back to half guard.

Slater sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Slater has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kenway is looking to get to half guard.
Kenway tries to hold on but Slater postures up.
Slater takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kenway is wriggling around trying to escape.

Slater definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Poor strikes thrown by Slater there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Slater avoids the attempt from Kenway to control.

Kenway wants to hold on but Slater pushes him away.
Slater tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slater swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kenway is now in Slater's guard. A big mistake from Slater there, giving up the dominant position!

Slater is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kenway wants to control from the top but Slater keeps moving.
Slater looking for a sweep. Not yet Slater, not yet.
Kenway is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kenway is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Slater is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Slater has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Slater darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kenway looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Slater connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kenway. Kenway circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Kenway avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slater looks to score with a jab to the body but Kenway is just out of range.
Kenway goes for a double leg but Slater avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Slater continues to drive forward.
Kenway fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tim Slater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Kenway.
Kenway drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Slater lands a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slater ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Kenway looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Slater attempts a counter takedown but Kenway avoids it well and moves away.

and Slater counters with a single leg into guard. Kenway didn't expect that.
Tim Slater overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kenway wants to control but Slater passes easily into half guard.
Slater trying to mount his opponent but Kenway defends it.
Kenway tries to roll over but Slater keeps him under control.

Kenway looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Slater content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kenway wants to control but Slater is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kenway is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Slater is staying active.
Kenway is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, if Slater is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Slater is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kenway can do to turn this around?

Slater is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kenway's half guard.
Kenway wants to improve his position but Slater is controlling well.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kenway goes for a double leg but Slater avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Slater continues to drive forward.
Slater changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Kenway shoots in looking for a takedown. Slater tries to sprawl out of it but Kenway keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slater manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kenway looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tim Slater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Kenway.
Kenway fails with the takedown.
Tim Slater seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slater keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Kenway on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Slater stuns Kenway with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Slater connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Kenway tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Slater swivels and escapes.

Kenway walks into a left hand.
Slater fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kenway walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


Kenway is rocked!
Kenway shoots in but Slater avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kenway is still on wobbly legs! Can Slater finish him?
Slater uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Charles Kenway is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Slater drops Kenway with a big left hand! Kenway is injured, injured bad! Slater jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
