Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Jons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Tucker!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jons fails with the takedown

and Tucker counters by clinching up.
Jons jumps guard but Tucker stands there with Jons around his waist. Jons gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jons tries to circle away but Tucker has him pinned against the cage.
Jons tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerry Jons. That's going to take a lot out of him.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tucker just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jons's brow.
Tucker stops a takedown attempt from Jons.
Tucker keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jons's efforts to push away.

Tucker gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tucker controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Tucker scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Tucker prevents Jons from getting back to his feet.
Tucker distracts Jons with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Tucker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tucker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tucker lands a couple of elbows.
Jons doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Let's hope that Tucker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
More stalling from Tucker.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jons lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Tucker wants to land a leg kick but Jons is out of range.
Jons drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tucker sprawls and moves away.
Jons tries to land a front kick but Tucker steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Jons tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tucker raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

and Tucker counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jons is wriggling around but Tucker manages to pass to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tucker is figuring out what he wants to do next.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tucker working over Jons with some ground and pound. Jons looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tucker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Tucker with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Tucker dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Tucker has taken the fight to the clinch.

Tucker gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Tucker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tucker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tucker is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Jons is forced to tap! Great finish!

John Tucker tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
