Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Joe (ranked 4649 p4p, 561 weight class) and Bea Mason (ranked 3748 p4p, 480 weight class). Joe's entrance music is Johnny Cash - Big Iron. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bea Mason!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason tries to keep at a distance but Joe has taken the fight into the clinch.

Joe jumps guard.
Mason trying to control the position from guard on top but Joe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Joe preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Joe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mason tries to free his leg and advance position but Joe is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joe can't keep his opponent in guard - Mason advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Joe has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Mason is on him like a limpet, forcing Joe back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Joe jumps guard but Mason stands there with Joe around his waist. Joe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Joe stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Joe drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mason gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mason drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Joe prevents Mason from breaking the clinch.
Mason has Joe pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Joe manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Joe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mason prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Joe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mason has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Joe uses from the top position.
Mason has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Joe looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Mason working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Joe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Joe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Joe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Joe stands up over Mason, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Joe stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Mason has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Joe manages to get his head free but now Mason has transitioned to an armbar! Joe grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Mason! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bea Mason!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Bea Mason waved his t-shirt featuring IniTech Nutrition 's logo in front of the cameras.
