PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Koko (ranked 3795 p4p, 389 weight class) and Veikko Pilvi (ranked 1510 p4p, 190 weight class). Pilvi has chosen Faded as his entrance music. Michael Koko is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Koko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Veikko Pilvi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pilvi lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A big right from Koko misses.
Koko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pilvi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Koko defends well and Pilvi ends up having to push Koko into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Koko throws a hook to the side of Pilvi's head but Pilvi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Koko misses with an uppercut. Pilvi saw that one coming.

Koko tries to keep at a distance but Pilvi has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pilvi jumps guard and drags Koko to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pilvi has his foot on Koko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koko works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Pilvi thows a huge punch but Koko dodges it nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Koko is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pilvi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pilvi's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pilvi breaks Koko's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Pilvi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Pilvi dives in and scores a takedown into Koko's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pilvi manages to get himself to full guard.

Koko has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pilvi can't keep his opponent in guard - Koko advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Koko tries to work over Pilvi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Koko swings wildly with an uppercut but Pilvi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pilvi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Koko's efforts to push away.

It looked like Koko was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Michael Koko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veikko Pilvi.

Pilvi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Koko finds it's way round the side to connect with Pilvi's head.

As Koko backs off Pilvi throws a huge counter combo but Koko manages to avoid it all.

Koko gets underhooks to prevent Pilvi's takedown attempt.

Koko has had enough of the clinch but Pilvi keeps him there for the moment.

Koko is pressed up against the cage. Pilvi has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Koko down to the mat. Koko avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Pilvi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Koko.
Pilvi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pilvi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Sloppy strikes from Koko. Those never looked like landing.
Pilvi has a takedown stuffed.
Pilvi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pilvi darts in and clinches Koko up against the cage.
Koko misses with a hook to the ribs.

Koko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Koko lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pilvi has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pilvi and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pilvi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Michael Koko is winning the standup battle so far.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pilvi is defended easily by Koko.
Koko lands a slapping body shot.
Koko misses with an uppercut.

Michael Koko showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Koko has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
