Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Morales (ranked 25244 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lester John Mate Jr (ranked 8956 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson Morales has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Morales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Lester John Mate Jr!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morales gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Mate Jr breaks the clinch.
Mate Jr looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Morales shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mate Jr as he avoids it easily.
Mate Jr is looking for the big counter here.
Mate Jr tries to clinch up.
Mate Jr turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Morales keeps the fight on the outside.

Mate Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Morales to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Morales working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mate Jr's head.
Morales will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mate Jr has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Morales has passed into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morales landing strikes.

Morales grinds an elbow into Mate Jr's temple.
Morales lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mate Jr down.


Mate Jr is rocked!

Morales tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Morales tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Morales has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morales thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Morales is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mate Jr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Morales is trying to get an arm triangle but Mate Jr is defending well.
Mate Jr tries to buck Morales off but Morales is having none of it.

Morales tries for a kimura but Mate Jr is defending well.
Mate Jr is trying to strike from the bottom but Morales has passed into full mount.

Morales working for a submission but Mate Jr is keeping him at bay.

Morales looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mate Jr is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

A nice elbow there by Morales.

Morales looking for a guillotine from mount but Mate Jr is having none of it.
Mate Jr tries to hold on but Morales postures up.

Morales with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Morales stands up from mount. Strange move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Morales wants to clinch.
Mate Jr shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morales as he jumps to the side.
Morales shoots in looking for a takedown. Mate Jr tries to sprawl out of it but Morales keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mate Jr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mate Jr doesn't manage to clinch there - Morales circles away.
Mate Jr tries to land a front kick but Morales steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mate Jr circles away from the clinch attempt.

Morales tries to clinch but Mate Jr is having none of it.
Mate Jr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Morales but Morales pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mate Jr throws a head kick that misses.
Horrible takedown attempt by Morales or perhaps it was just good defense by Mate Jr, which made it look bad.

Morales shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mate Jr wants to stand back up but Morales manages to pass into side control.
Mate Jr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morales. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mate Jr is breathing heavily.

Mate Jr is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Morales is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mate Jr can do to turn this around?

Morales wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mate Jr, who protects the arm well.

Mate Jr wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Morales seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Mate Jr is tapping! Wow, great finish!
