Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hiram Petersen (ranked 25236 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mariusz Zbigniew (ranked 5910 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hiram Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mariusz Zbigniew!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petersen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Zbigniew to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Petersen kicks Zbigniew off and gets to his feet.
Mariusz Zbigniew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zbigniew gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Petersen is struggling to control the position.
Zbigniew blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Zbigniew breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Zbigniew falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Petersen to counter with a crisp jab.

Zbigniew fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Petersen, pushing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Zbigniew escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Zbigniew takes a kick to the side of the head.
Zbigniew pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Zbigniew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Zbigniew throws a half hearted mid kick.
Petersen shoots in and drives through. Zbigniew sprawls well.
Petersen scores with a hook to the body. Zbigniew takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Zbigniew gets the takedown into side control.
Petersen is looking for a sweep.

Zbigniew is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Petersen has escaped the position, nice work there.
Petersen is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Zbigniew has just dragged him back down to the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zbigniew advances to full mount.
Zbigniew takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Let's hope that Zbigniew has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Zbigniew.
Yet more stalling tactics from Zbigniew.
Petersen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee warns Petersen that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Petersen is bucking up trying to escape but Zbigniew cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Petersen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Zbigniew moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Petersen has worked his arm free - good work by Petersen!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zbigniew advances nicely into full mount.
Zbigniew working the ground and pound effectively.

Zbigniew get's back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mariusz Zbigniew dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Petersen moves out of range of the body kick from Zbigniew.
Petersen darts in looking for a takedown but Zbigniew gets double underhooks and turns Petersen into the cage.
Petersen fails with the takedown
and Zbigniew counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Petersen thinking.
Zbigniew fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Petersen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zbigniew as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiram Petersen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Petersen throws a series of punches but Zbigniew avoids them all with ease.
Petersen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Zbigniew checks it well.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zbigniew! But no joy.
Zbigniew has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zbigniew turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Zbigniew tries to stand but Petersen controls the position and pulls Zbigniew into his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Petersen wants to stand but Zbigniew is controlling the position.

Zbigniew is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Petersen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zbigniew sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Zbigniew gets a takedown into half guard.
Petersen wants to get back to full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Zbigniew is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Petersen is looking for a sweep. Zbigniew is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Zbigniew content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Petersen avoids a kick to the body.
Petersen blocks a head kick by Zbigniew.
Petersen tries to counter with a takedown but Zbigniew is quick to defend against it.
Zbigniew chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Petersen can pounce on him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mariusz Zbigniew showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Petersen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Zbigniew closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Zbigniew has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Petersen uses from the top position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Zbigniew holds on and takes a little breather.

Zbigniew shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zbigniew showed some decent athleticism there.

Petersen has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Zbigniew is on him like a limpet, forcing Petersen back against the cage.

Zbigniew has picked Petersen up - he's going for a ride! Zbigniew dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Zbigniew is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Petersen sees it coming and defends easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zbigniew drops an elbow to the side of Petersen's head.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Petersen is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Zbigniew scores with a couple of nice shots.
Zbigniew stalling.
Zbigniew's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

More stalling from Zbigniew.
Zbigniew wants to stand but Petersen has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Zbigniew moves into full mount! Petersen won't be happy about that!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mariusz Zbigniew comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Zbigniew has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
