Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Merlin (ranked 2159 p4p, 261 weight class) and Pit Canthropus Jr (ranked 1867 p4p, 226 weight class). Canthropus Jr has chosen Austin Powers - Daddy Wasn't There as his entrance music. Pit Canthropus Jr has the eye of the tiger tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canthropus Jr walks into a straight right hand from Merlin.
A looping hook to the body misses from Canthropus Jr. Merlin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Merlin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Merlin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Canthropus Jr manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Merlin keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Merlin tries to pull guard but Canthropus Jr holds him up against the cage and eventually Merlin drops back down to his feet.
Canthropus Jr lands an uppercut.
Merlin is trying to pull guard but Canthropus Jr turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Canthropus Jr lands a left hand.
Canthropus Jr lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Merlin backwards.
Canthropus Jr is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Canthropus Jr prevents the takedown attempt.

Merlin is working for a rear naked choke. Canthropus Jr is not defending it well and Merlin has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Canthropus Jr refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Canthropus Jr's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

After winning the bout, Xavier Merlin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
