Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Burner (ranked 7849 p4p, 134 weight class) and Richard Volg (ranked 7898 p4p, 135 weight class). Richard Volg will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Burner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Volg!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burner takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


It looks like Robert Burner has been cut.

Burner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Volg to the ground. Burner is now in Volg's guard.
Volg not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Burner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Burner postures up in Volg's guard and throws a big left but Volg blocks it.
Burner controls from within his opponent's guard.
Volg looking to control.
Volg is trying to hold Burner in close to prevent damage but Burner has managed to pass into half guard.
Burner with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burner drops an elbow to the side of Volg's head.
Volg has hold of Burner's hands but Burner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Volg is trying to get back to full guard.

Burner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burner is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Volg trying to control but Burner postures up.
Burner landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Burner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Burner content to control rather than advance.
Burner has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Volg has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Burner is working away from the top position though.
Burner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Volg's head.
Burner prevents Volg from standing back up.
Volg wants to improve his position but Burner is controlling well.
Burner looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Volg with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Burner slows the pace down in half guard.

Volg pushes Burner off looking to stand but Burner dives back in and keeps control.
Volg is looking to control Burner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Volg avoid being mounted?
Burner looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Volg wants to control but Burner is keeping busy.
Burner scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Burner is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Burner winds up and cracks Volg with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Burner landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Burner looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Volg tries to get to full guard but Burner has control of the leg.
Burner working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Burner takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Burner is taking a breather. Volg says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We've been informed that Volg has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Burner lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Volg wants to get back to full guard but Burner has passed into side control.
Burner has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Volg!
Volg is looking to get to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Volg tries to hold on but Burner postures up.

Burner lands a big elbow.
We've been hearing that Burner has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

BOOM! Burner connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Volg is wriggling around trying to escape.
Burner lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Volg hang on?

Volg is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Burner is landing with some decent strikes but Volg is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Burner is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Volg can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Volg is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burner controlling the pace for now.
Burner connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Volg is still in real trouble! Can Burner finish him?
Burner scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Volg seems to have recovered his senses.
Burner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Volg's face.
Burner sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Volg tries to reverse the position but Burner maintains control.

Burner cracks Volg with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
