The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Watson keeps the fight on the outside.
Silverio tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Watson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Watson tries to counter by clinching up but Silverio breaks away and moves out of range.

Silverio should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

As Silverio tries to get set, Watson tries to push him back and clinch up but Silverio manages to avoid the attempt.

Watson gets control of Silverio's arms and successfully pulls guard. Watson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Watson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Watson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Silverio is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Watson.

Silverio jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Watson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Silverio is controlling the pace.
Watson tries to get to full guard but Silverio has control of the leg.
Silverio is looking to advance position but Watson won't allow it.
Watson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Silverio is thwarting Watson's attempts to control the position.
Silverio trying to pass the guard but Watson defending well.
Watson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Watson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silverio gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Silverio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silverio wants to control from the top but Watson keeps moving.
Silverio pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Watson is keeping the position for now.
Watson has Silverio pulled in close to control his posture.

That's eight minutes gone in the round.

Silverio content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Watson has locked up a guillotine! Watson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Silverio is holding on here and Watson must be using up a lot of energy. Silverio has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Watson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Percy Watson!
