Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benny Guzman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gail Kim!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guzman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Guzman blocks the strikes from Kim.
Kim tries to bench press Guzman off him but Guzman keeps the position.
Kim struggling a bit here.
Kim tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Guzman scoring with punches and elbows.
Kim is not content to let Guzman control the position.
Kim is looking to regain half guard here but Guzman keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kim can't do much from the bottom here.
Guzman looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kim is avoiding damage well.

Guzman tries to score with some ground and pound. Kim controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Guzman wants to control but Kim is keeping him busy.

Guzman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Guzman decides to return to a standing position.

Kim dives in and scores a takedown into Guzman's guard.

Guzman is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Kim tightens his grip and picks Guzman up, before dumping him to the ground. Guzman manages to land in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Guzman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kim slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Guzman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kim manages to get himself to full guard.

Kim will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Kim is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Guzman regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kim.

Guzman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That was a close round but I would say that Benny Guzman will probably get the nod.

Kim should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kim is looking to take a break and control but Guzman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kim stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Guzman to get to his feet.

Kim closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Guzman did well to prevent Kim getting side control.
Kim takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Kim is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Guzman wants to get back to full guard but Kim has mounted him!
Kim lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Kim swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Guzman is now in Kim's guard. A big mistake from Kim there, giving up the dominant position!
Oh Guzman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kim changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Guzman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Guzman gets caught napping as Kim dives in and scores a takedown. Guzman manages to retain guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kim gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Guzman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kim but Kim pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kim closes the distance and pushes Guzman back into the cage.
Guzman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kim pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benny Guzman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kim changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Guzman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kim has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kim decides to stand back up.

Guzman looks to move to half guard but instead Kim has passed into mount! Damn!

Guzman tries to reverse the position but Kim maintains control.

Kim has control of Guzman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Guzman regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Kim takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kim is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Guzman has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Guzman is trying desperately to improve position.
Kim avoids the attempt from Guzman to control.
Kim controlling from the full mount.
Guzman wants to control but Kim is having none of it.
Guzman keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kim is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Guzman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kim moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Guzman has worked his arm free - good work by Guzman!
Guzman is looking to regain half guard here but Kim keeps moving and retains side control.
Kim is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Guzman's shoulder. That is not cool.

Kim tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kim has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kim wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Guzman, who protects the arm well.
Guzman seems to have got his legs back now.
Kim is putting a hurting on Guzman here, landing some big shots from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gail Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Guzman gets caught flat footed, as Kim shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Guzman manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Kim works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Guzman manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kim gets a clinch.
Guzman with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Guzman gets to his feet. Kim looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Guzman tries to counter by clinching up but Kim breaks away and moves out of range.
Guzman shoots in looking for a takedown. Kim tries to sprawl out of it but Guzman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kim manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Guzman has closed the distance and engaged Kim in a clinch.

Guzman drags the fight down to the ground.

Guzman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kim's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Kim stands and steps away. Guzman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kim gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Guzman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kim smiles and moves away.
Gail Kim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Guzman tries to pull guard but Kim holds him up against the cage and eventually Guzman drops back down to his feet.

Kim manages to break the clinch.
Guzman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kim is fending him off so far but Guzman persists. Nope, Kim circles away and we're back to standing.
Kim throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Guzman appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Guzman avoids a kick to the body.

Guzman rushes Kim and presses him up against the cage.
Guzman pushes off an throws an elbow but Kim leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Kim has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Guzman regains guard immediately.

Guzman manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Kim misses with a kick to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kim.
Guzman is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Guzman wants to clinch.

Nice takedown defense from Kim. No joy for Guzman on that attempt.
Kim looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Kim moves into the clinch.

Guzman is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kim is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Guzman to the mat. Guzman regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Benny Guzman.
I think Guzman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
