PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Burgundy (ranked 724 p4p, 106 weight class) and Tung Fo (ranked 2194 p4p, 318 weight class). Ron Burgundy is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 50 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Burgundy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tung Fo!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Burgundy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burgundy wants it to stay on the feet.
Burgundy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Burgundy throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Burgundy finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Fo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burgundy tries to avoid it but Fo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burgundy to the ground. Burgundy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ron Burgundy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tung Fo.
Burgundy throws a lazy right hand but Fo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Burgundy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fo blocks a jab.
Fo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Burgundy is fending him off so far but Fo persists. Nope, Burgundy circles away and we're back to standing.
Fo misses with a takedown attempt - Burgundy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Fo counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fo is working for a submission of some sort.

Fo seems to be looking for submissions.

Fo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Burgundy trying to control but Fo postures up.

Burgundy is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fo pulls his head out easily.
Burgundy is looking to improve his position.

Fo is looking for a kimura here.

Fo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Burgundy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fo.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fo is working for a submission of some sort.
Burgundy tries to get to full guard but Fo has control of the leg.

Fo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Burgundy is just riding it out for now. Fo eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fo seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Burgundy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fo.
Burgundy tries to get to full guard but Fo has control of the leg.
Burgundy is in trouble now - Fo has advanced to mount!

Fo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Burgundy is now in Fo's guard. A big mistake from Fo there, giving up the dominant position!
Fo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fo keeps trying to improve his position.

Fo working for submissions but it's allowed Burgundy to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burgundy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Fo tries to roll over but Burgundy keeps him under control.
Fo felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Fo is pressing down on Burgundy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Burgundy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burgundy has managed to get both his arms back between Fo's legs - danger averted.
Burgundy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Burgundy stands and steps away. Fo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As Fo looks to move away, Burgundy throws a big counter combo but Fo just gets out of the way.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fo closes the distance looking to clinch
and Burgundy counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Tung Fo has been cut.
Burgundy throws a poor cross that misses

and Fo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fo.

Burgundy scrambles and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Burgundy dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tung Fo's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Burgundy defends it nicely.
Fo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Burgundy sprawls well. Burgundy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fo gets slowly back to his feet.
Fo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Burgundy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ron Burgundy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tung Fo.
Burgundy pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Burgundy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fo can do to turn this around?
Fo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Fo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
As Fo backs away, Burgundy returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Burgundy lands with a nice body punch.
Fo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Fo is breathing heavily.
Good standup being displayed there by Burgundy as he connects with a hook.


Fo is rocked!
Burgundy fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Fo out cold! Brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Ron Burgundy!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Ron Burgundy waved his t-shirt featuring Spartan Nutrition's logo in front of the cameras.
