Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe James (ranked 23451 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Steel (ranked 8376 p4p, 0 weight class). James kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Last Resort . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chris Steel!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.
Steel looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

James feints and as Steel raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
James is looking to stand up but Steel won't let him.

James's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Steel for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
James is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James is pushing down on Steel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Steel is fighting to maintain full guard but James has managed to sneak the leg through.

James is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Steel defends it well.
James winds up and cracks Steel with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

James seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
James has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. James showed some decent athleticism there.
James works his way into full mount!

James is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Steel to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Steel shrugs it off.

James is working for a guillotine from mount but Steel frees his head quite easily.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
James scores with a couple of good head shots there.
James breaks from Steel's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Steel enables James to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Steel manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
James slips nicely into half guard.

James in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Steel tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from James!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joe James!
