Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between JJ Woods (ranked 2238 p4p, 263 weight class) and Tommy Doyle (ranked 3895 p4p, 423 weight class). Tommy Doyle told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Woods.
Woods takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A head kick misses from Woods.
A chopping leg kick lands by Woods.
Doyle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Woods was well out of range. Poor timing from Doyle .
Woods throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Doyle blocks a head kick by Woods.
Woods moves to clinch but Doyle breaks away
enabling Doyle to counter with a crisp jab.
Woods gets a takedown into half guard.
Doyle won't allow Woods to pass to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Woods feints and as Doyle raises his hands in defense, Woods changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Woods drops back, looking for a kneebar! Doyle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Doyle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Doyle !

Woods lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Doyle backwards.

Doyle goes for a takedown in the clinch but Woods prevents it.
Doyle wants the takedown. Woods is fighting it off but Doyle persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Woods's guard against the cage.
