Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Blitz (ranked 3483 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rad Dood (ranked 4158 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Blitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rad Dood!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dood misses with a shot to the body
and Blitz counters with a two punch combo.
Dood swings for the body but Blitz moves out of range.
We've been told by Blitz's head coaches at 3Band MMA ($800/week) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Blitz moves in looking to clinch but Dood pushes him off.
Dood throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Blitz's waist but Blitz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dood off to one side.
Blitz is looking to counter the offense by Dood and move into the clinch.

Blitz gets a takedown into half guard.
Dood has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blitz is working away from the top position though.
Dood is looking for a sweep. Blitz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Blitz wants to get back to his feet.
Dood gets full guard.

Dood manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Blitz manages to get himself to full guard.

Dood with a flurry of punches that miss.
Blitz keeping moving, preventing Dood from controlling successfully.
Dood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Blitz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dood wants to control from the top but Blitz keeps moving.

Dood thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dood forces his way into half guard.
Blitz trying to hold on to Dood's head to control him but Dood postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dood is looking for a kimura but Blitz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dood to get the leverage.

Dood wants to take a breather but Blitz is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dood lands a nice short elbow.

Dood has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dood wants to take a breather but Blitz is having none of it.

Dood thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Blitz's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dood looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Dood passes the guard and advances to mount!

Blitz is squirming around, avoiding Dood's attempts to control the action.
Dood thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Dood looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Dood sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Blitz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Dood tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Dood goes for an armbar but Blitz turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Blitz.
Blitz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Dood looking for a guillotine here but Blitz defends easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blitz postures up.
Blitz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dood on the ground.
Blitz trying to control but Dood is working from the bottom.

Blitz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dood has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blitz has managed to get both his arms back between Dood's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rad Dood dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Blitz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Blitz tries for a kimura but Dood is defending well.
Dood manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Rad Dood has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dood is looking to stall here but Blitz recovers full guard.
Dood stands up over Blitz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dood scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blitz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dood stands and throws Blitz's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Dood has hold of Blitz's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Blitz tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Dood cranks the arm and Blitz screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Blitz, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Rad Dood!
John Blitz spoke after the fight, saying 'Have to train my wrestling'.
