PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay Moore (ranked 3778 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Humphries (ranked 7548 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Moore might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Liberty Bell. The key to victory for Clay Moore has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Clay Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephen Humphries!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moore gets the takedown into side control.
Moore wants to stand but Humphries is controlling his arm.
Moore tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Humphries struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Humphries is trying to get back to half guard.

Moore tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moore has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
I wouldn't like to be where Humphries is right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moore tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Humphries can't do much from the bottom here.

Humphries manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Humphries tries to roll over but Moore keeps him under control.
Humphries is still trying to improve position.

Humphries is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moore is controlling him.
Humphries really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moore. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Humphries is looking for a triangle but Moore pushes his legs off easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Moore gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Humphries slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Moore not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Moore really is a fat lump.

Humphries drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Moore dives on top into guard.

Humphries trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Moore is fighting to break Humphries's control of his arms but Humphries is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Humphries can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Moore prevents Humphries from getting back to his feet.
Moore looking to sit in guard and control but Humphries gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Humphries's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Humphries must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Let's hope that Humphries has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Humphries shoots for a double leg takedown but Moore sprawls well. He's pushed Humphries's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Humphries shoots in but Moore avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Moore seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Clay Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephen Humphries.

Moore fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Humphries sprawls well initially but Moore persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Moore wants to finish this one by submission but Humphries is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Moore.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Humphries manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Humphries has his hands clasped together around Moore's back. He's all about the action.
