PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vicente Lafayette (ranked 113 p4p, 17 weight class) and Arthur Halo (ranked 54 p4p, 9 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Arthur Halo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vicente Lafayette!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur Halo!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lafayette misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Halo.

Halo has control of Lafayette's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lafayette regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vicente Lafayette will probably get the nod.

Lafayette lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Halo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


Halo is rocked!
Lafayette cracks Halo on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Halo falls backwards against the cage. Lafayette follows up with more strikes that drop Halo to his knees. Lafayette keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Halo! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 5, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vicente Lafayette!

Vicente Lafayette decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
