The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ham stuffs the takedown attempt from Ashan. Ashan gets slowly back to his feet.

Ham drives through and clinches with Ashan against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Ashan has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

We've been informed that Ham has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Ashan wants to sweep here but Ham controlling him for the moment.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Ham gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ham turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Ham manages to end up in side control.

Kalathil Ashan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ham swings around for an armbar but Ashan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ham's guard.

Let's hope that Ham has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ashan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ham swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ashan wants to control from the top but Ham keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ham fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ashan, pushing him back against the cage.

Ashan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ham regains guard immediately.
Ham is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ashan wants to control from the top but Ham keeps moving.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kalathil Ashan will probably get the nod.

Ham feints and as Ashan raises his hands in defense, Ham changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ashan is wriggling around but Ham manages to pass to half guard.

Ham misses with a head shot. Ashan uses the momentum to regain guard.

Ham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ashan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ashan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ham's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ham can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ham winds up and cracks Ashan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
