Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Russell Paulman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Taiei Kin!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kin darts in and clinches Paulman up against the cage.
Kin throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Paulman blocks it with crossed arms.

Paulman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kin for as long as he can get away with.

Kin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Paulman throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kin lands with a nice combination. Paulman backs away looking to recover.
Kin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kin wants it to stay on the feet.
Kin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Paulman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kin is fending him off so far but Paulman persists. Nope, Kin circles away and we're back to standing.
Kin lands a head kick. Paulman smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Paulman misses with a takedown attempt - Kin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

We've been told by Paulman's head coaches at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Paulman.

Kin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Paulman or not.

Kin lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kin lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Kin landing knees to the head.
Kin is pressed up against the cage. Paulman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kin down to the mat. Kin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Russell Paulman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kin throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Paulman's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Kin dives in looking to finish as Paulman flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Kin's strikes! Kin is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Paulman's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Paulman was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Taiei Kin really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that KAISER logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
