Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Tarley (ranked 2004 p4p, 288 weight class) and Kelvin Handleman (ranked 3063 p4p, 416 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Handleman's choice of entrance music: Pride FC Theme. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Tarley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kelvin Handleman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tarley moves away from the strike by Handleman.
Tarley displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Handleman throws out the jab.
Handleman throws a lazy uppercut
and Tarley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Handleman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Tarley fails to land the takedown.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Handleman! But no joy.
Handleman throws a body punch but Tarley moves out of range.
Handleman has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

We've been hearing reports that Tarley has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

It looks like Kelvin Handleman has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Handleman waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tarley.

Tarley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Handleman is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Handleman is letting Tarley control him for a moment.
I wouldn't like to be where Handleman is right now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Handleman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Handleman is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Handleman dives in and scores a takedown into Tarley's guard.
Handleman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Handleman wants to control from the top but Tarley keeps moving.

Tarley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Handleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tarley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Handleman's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Handleman has his foot on Tarley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tarley works his way back into a safe position though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Tarley ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Tarley shoots and misses
and Handleman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tarley scores with a hook to the body. Handleman takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Handleman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Handleman wants it to stay on the feet.
Tarley shoots in for a double leg but Handleman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Tarley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice cross by Handleman.
Handleman scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Handleman might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Tarley uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Handleman.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Handleman lands a big uppercut and Tarley crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Tarley looks OK. Handleman waves Tarley back to his feet!


Tarley is rocked!
Tarley tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Handleman swivels and escapes.
Oh Tarley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tarley looks up at the clock. Bad move! Handleman lands a right hand from hell, dropping Tarley. Handleman pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kelvin Handleman!
An out of breath and clearly excited Kelvin Handleman thanked Freebok (85% Laundry) for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
