PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles Ng (ranked 1201 p4p, 129 weight class) and Bill Bronson (ranked 1835 p4p, 196 weight class). Ng's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Wedlock - I'm The Fuck You Man. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Charles Ng!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Bronson!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bronson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Bronson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bronson shoots for a takedown but Ng saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bronson lands with a shot to the body.
Bronson misses the jab.
Bronson misses with a left hand
and Ng counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bronson misses with a straight right.
Bronson throws a looping overhand right but Ng ducks down to avoid it.

Bronson dives in and scores a takedown into Ng's guard.
Ng seems keen to control Bronson's posture.

Ng can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bronson controls the pace.
Bronson wants to control from the top but Ng keeps moving.

Bronson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bronson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ng working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bronson.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ng uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bronson.
Ng connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Bronson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ng looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bronson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ng is not content to let Bronson control the position.

The strikes coming from Bronson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ng pushes Bronson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bronson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee asks Bronson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bronson prefers to stall for the moment though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ng fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ng throws a nice outside leg kick.
Decent striking displayed by Ng there.
Ng fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ng scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bronson doesn't seem bothered though.
Ng fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bronson.

Bronson jabs Ng to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bronson throws an overhand right that lands on Ng's shoulder, as Ng tries to avoid the shot.

Bronson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bronson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bill Bronson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bronson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ng wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Bronson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ng throws an overhand right that lands on Bronson's shoulder, as Bronson tries to avoid the shot.
Ng looks for the body kick but Bronson saw that one coming.

Ng looks to land a left hand but Bronson moved out of range nicely.

Bronson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ng is not content to let Bronson control the position.

Ng wants to control but Bronson postures up.
Bronson wants to control for a moment but Ng uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Bronson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ng swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

A shot to the liver by Ng. Beautiful body shot.
Ng lands a really nice looking cross but Bronson seems unphased.
Bronson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Charles Ng is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ng on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ng. Bronson shrugs it off though.
Ng scores with a crisp jab that stopped Bronson in his tracks.

A nice inside leg kick there by Bronson. That's going to slow Ng down.
Bronson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ng throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bronson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bronson throws a solid leg kick but Ng takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Bronson.
Ng walks into a stiff left hand from Bronson.

Bronson just misses with a punch to the body.
Ng swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bronson.

Ng takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Ng attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Ng moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Ng pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Ng dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bronson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ng to score with a decent uppercut.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That kick from Ng tenderised Bronson's leg. Bronson is trying to keep his angry face on.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bronson lunges at Ng with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ng's hand.

Bronson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ng quickly recovers to half guard.

Bronson is looking to take a break and control but Ng is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ng is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ng makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ng.
Bronson wants to control from the top but Ng keeps moving.

Ng has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Bronson passes Ng's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Ng is trying to control the position but Bronson postures up.

Bronson lands with a straight right. Ng didn't see that one coming.
Bronson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ng fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bronson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bronson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bronson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ng takes a jab right on the kisser.

Ng is looking to slow Bronson down with leg kicks.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ng tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bronson was well out of range. Poor timing from Ng.
Charles Ng seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bronson takes a swing at Ng's ribcage but misses.
Ng throws a nice outside leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Charles Ng.
I think Ng has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
