PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herb Krison (ranked 2874 p4p, 390 weight class) and Kevin Space (ranked 2370 p4p, 322 weight class). Krison's entrance music is Rebelution. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Herb Krison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Space!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krison cracks Space with a right hand to the side of the head.
Krison thumps Space with a low kick.
Krison looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Krison getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Space shoots in but no luck this time.
Krison throws a lazy body kick

and Space counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Space is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Space is working for a kimura but Krison is defending it quite comfortably.

Space is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Krison defends it well.
Krison might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Krison makes his way to full guard, as Space worked for a kimura.
Space is pushing down on Krison's leg trying to pass to half guard. Krison is fighting to maintain full guard but Space has managed to sneak the leg through.

Krison holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Krison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Space on the ground.
Space slips nicely into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Space sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Krison defending well though.
Space throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Space throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Krison is defending against the submission attempts here by Space.

Space is working for a submission of some sort.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Space seems to be working for a kimura but Krison defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Krison lands a nice shot that snaps Space's head back.
A slow jab from Krison misses its intended target.
Space tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Krison connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Krison moves into the clinch successfully.
Krison misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Krison.

Krison manages to break the clinch.
Krison attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krison lands a really nice looking cross but Space seems unphased.
Space ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Space has his takedown stuffed
and Krison counters with a good, hard body kick but Space shrugs it off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Space checks the leg kick.
Krison throws a front kick that sends Space stumbling back into the cage.
Krison walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Space checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Krison buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Krison missing with a left hand there. Space was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And Space tries to counter it with a takedown but Krison pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Space shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Space was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Krison parries the strikes from Space easily there. Space is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Krison to escape.

Space is trying to get an arm triangle but Krison is defending well.

Krison wants to control but Space is keeping busy.

Krison manages to get to full guard.
Space tries to free his leg and advance position but Krison is retaining full guard.
Krison is controlling Space's posture.
Space stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krison swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Space working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Space has gone for a leg lock! Krison slips out almost immediately though and dives into Space's guard.


Space is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Herb Krison has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Krison has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Space is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Krison is aware though and is defending well.

That's time! Krison's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Krison connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Krison moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Krison throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Space stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Krison stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Krison wants it to stay on the feet.
Good work by Space as he checks the leg kick.
Horrible takedown attempt by Space or perhaps it was just good defense by Krison, which made it look bad.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krison lands a nice looking body kick.
Krison connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Krison gets a clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Space.
Space has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Krison after a bit of a struggle.
Herb Krison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Space.
Krison tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Krison digs a right hand underneath Space's ribcage. Space let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Krison scores with a shot to the side of Space's head.
Krison pushes Space back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Space takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Space is looking for a takedown.
Krison lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Krison is fighting off a takedown attempt but Space is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Krison to the mat. Krison regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Krison is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Space defends well.

Space drops back, looking for a kneebar! Krison looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Krison looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Krison!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Space is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Krison tries to stand but Space is controlling his head.

Space is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Krison off and has taken his back!

Krison just trying to survive but Space is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Krison is in bad spot here.
Krison wants to control his opponent's hands but Space gets his hands free.

Space is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Krison has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
I really don't envy Krison right now.
Space doesn't have the hooks in and Krison manages to turn into his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Space working for a triangle but Krison defends it easily.
Krison engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Herb Krison showed his dominance in that final round.
