Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Tanagul!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanagul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brunton's waist but Brunton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tanagul off to one side.
Brunton leaves Tanagul with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Brunton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brunton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Tanagul has managed to free his arm - good work.

Tanagul pushes Brunton off looking to stand but Brunton dives back in and keeps control.
Brunton tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tanagul knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Brunton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Brunton is trying to work for a kimura but Tanagul is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brunton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Well, if Brunton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Brunton is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Brunton is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Tanagul is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Tanagul flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Brunton anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Tanagul and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Brunton slips an arm under Tanagul chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Brunton has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Brunton is squeezing on Tanagul like an anaconda would it's prey. Tanagul fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Dan Brunton!
