The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pond winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Pond has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Pond gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pond has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pond cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Pond postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jones looks a forlorn figure.

Pond is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pond is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Jones is defending well though. Pond let's go of the attempt for now.
Pond lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Jones hold on?!
